Below are a list of questions I've frequently been asked...so this page is aptly titled Frequently Asked Questions!
In the case I don't answer your question, please drop me a note and I'll get right back to you with an answer. Let's get started:
What do you do? My services are right here and fall into five practice areas of: strategy and planning; program development; social media; writing; and speaking.
How do I find out about your business? You can find out about my "epiphany" right here.
Where do you live? I live in New York City and travel all over for work (and fun).
Why do you blog? Reasons are vast and varied. But I'll go one better, you can find out why myself and many other marketers blog right here.
Where else do you write besides your own blog? Besides my own blog, I currently write for the MarketingProfs Daily Fix blog and TalentZoo. (psst: more outlets will be announced shortly).
What do others say about you? They've said all sorts of stuff, but they mainly focus on my smarts, creativity and energy. Some "buzz" on me is right here.
Wait, all I wanted was a traditional bio....don't you have that?
I sure do. A PDF version is here.
I'm new to social media, got any advice for me? I have lots. In fact, I've
created and entire section devoted getting you started on the right foot. That section is right here.
What does your blog focus on? I cover a wide range of marketing topics including strategy, social media and socially responsible marketing. I work to communicate best practices through a range of examples that include the really smart and the really not-so-smart. While most every post is focused on marketing, no day is ever the same.
Do you consider yourself a social media expert? I consider myself a marketing expert who actively engages in social media (both for my own interests and my client's work) and it is one of my practice areas.
You seem to have a commitment to bettering the profession, what do you do to make good on that? I feel a responsibility to advance the profession and I work to do so through (1) maintaining this blog, (2) writing at other outlets and (3) creating programs that bring marketers closer together to share best practices (like Book Club and Blogger Social). And I also develop pieces that share best practices (see some pieces here).
Do you accept advertising on your blog? Nope. All ideas, recommendations and subjects discussed on my blog are authentically mine (and not sponsored by anyone). I'm not against others advertising on their blogs--it's their blog, after all!--I'm just against advertising on mine.
What if I wanted to pitch you on an idea that I think you should cover? Please follow the pitch rules that I've created right here and please, I beg you, follow them closely as my inbox is already exploding!
Do you do speaking engagements? Yes. I enjoy engaging with audiences very much--be it to a room of 60 people or 600. Information on several of my presentations is located here. (and videos of speeches are here and videos of panels are here)
How do you prefer to be contacted? Email is best and you can drop me a line here.
Is it tougher being a female blogger? I've no idea (being I've never been a male blogger so I have no point of comparison). But I have been asked by this on several occasions. I don't think anyone treats me any differently and I have a terrific balance of both male and female readers from across the world.
