Slaying The Social Media "Fear Demons" At Social South (Aug 21-22)

ScreenHunter_10 Aug. 06 19.37 If you're located in the south, or need a nudge to get down south, consider this your red-carpet invitation. I am honored to be speaking among such stellar company at Social South and I'm really excited to address an important aspect of social media.

Which is to say, I'm going down south to slay me some demons.

Why "fear demons"? Because in order to tap the tremendous opportunity of Web 2.0 and The Social Web, many companies must first get past their fears of the tools and, moreover, the environment.

Hey, I get it; change is scary and fraught with ways to fumble (and potentially fail). And now that customers can speak up at the click of a mouse and have their message amplified across countries and entire continents... they could say bad things.

Or your content programs could sink instead of soar.

And before you've even used all these funny new tools with funny new names, you're already feeling overwhelmed by them.

Lions... and Twitter... and BLOGS, oh my!

Worry not, I've yet to meet a demon that's gotten the best of me. And I'm not about to let fear be the thing that holds you back from ensuring your company's relevance, bringing your bottom-line more revenue and opening your business to new relationships. Nope, not on my watch.

So I'll show those pesky demons the door and arm you with a plan--and in true CK fashion, give you a ton of action points!--so that you, too, can get past your fears and can get into growing your business through these amazing media.

Here's a summary of my session:

So many companies could be benefiting from using social media, yet they stay on the sidelines due to fear of the unknown, fear of “bad buzz” or fear of talking with a (gulp!) global audience. But you needn’t be scared of these new tools, new lingo and new world… all you need is to be shown Logo how to handle any situation (and slay any demon) so that you launch strong, build relationships and grow revenues.

I'll also be joining forces with the inimitable Ike Pigott for a round table discussion on "Selling Your Boss on Social Media."And there are many, many more sessions that are well worth the time and fee to get down south later this month.

Big thanks to Mack Collier and Scott Schablow for making me a part of this special event--no one could ever mistake either of you for demons (just the opposite, in fact).

Disclaimer: While I do not condone violence, the thing is this: demons are bad news. They scare, taunt and paralyze us into taking no action instead of taking positive actions that lead to tremendous ROI. So slay them I must; it's part of my job description. All Social South information is right here.

See you in two weeks!!!

I'm bringing my katana.

No, I'm not joking.

You know... in hindsight, we kicked butt in that discussion. And you DID slay some demons!
